How to Measure for a Laurel Wreath: A 2-Minute Guide

How to Measure for a Laurel Wreath: A 2-Minute Guide

It's the question we get most often, and the answer is simpler than you think. All you need are two minutes and a tailor's tape measure.

It's worth doing it right: a wreath that's too tight will leave a mark on your forehead after an hour, while one that's too loose will slide back in every photo of the day.

WHERE TO MEASURE

Wrap the tailor's tape measure all around your head, at the height you want to wear the wreath:

  • over your ears, not under

  • about a finger above your eyebrows on your forehead

  • keeping the tape measure snug but not tight: it should rest against your head, not leave a mark

Read the measurement in centimeters and choose the corresponding size. Our wreaths range from 52 to 61 cm and fit practically every adult head. If your measurement falls outside this range, write to us: we'll make the wreath to measure.

DON'T HAVE A TAILOR'S TAPE MEASURE?

Take a piece of cotton thread, twine, or your phone charger cable. Wrap it around your head as described above, mark the spot with your finger or a pen, then lay it flat against a rigid ruler or a straight edge.

It works exactly the same way. The important thing is not to pull it.

IF YOU'RE BETWEEN TWO SIZES, CHOOSE THE LARGER ONE

You measure 56.5 cm and don't know whether to choose 56 or 57? Go for 57.

A slightly larger wreath can be adjusted with your hairstyle, a bobby pin, or simply by wearing it a little further back. A tighter wreath, on the other hand, won't stretch, and you'll notice after two hours of partying.

This is especially true if you have thick or curly hair, or if you plan to wear an updo with volume on the day of the ceremony: in that case, measure directly with the hairstyle you'll be wearing, or add a centimeter.

IF IT'S A GIFT AND YOU CAN'T ASK

The trickiest case: you want to surprise them and can't put a tape measure around their head without ruining the surprise.

  • Measure one of their hats. Take the inner circumference of the headband: that's the measurement you need.

  • Ask someone they live with. A parent, partner, or roommate: they can measure them without raising suspicion.

  • Go with the average size. If there's really no other way, 56–57 cm is the most popular size and fits most people.

If the measurement still isn't quite right, message us on WhatsApp: we'll find a solution.

ONE THING THAT ONLY APPLIES TO OUR WREATHS

Fresh laurel wreaths are rigid: the measurement is either right or it isn't.

Our leaves are 3D printed with a geometry that makes them flexible, so the wreath has a margin of adjustment that real laurel doesn't. It's not elastic like a rubber band — you still need to choose the right size — but it forgives an extra half centimeter, and withstands bumps, hugs, and the bag you put it in for travel.

📏 Do you have your measurement? Our laurel wreaths are 3D printed and handcrafted leaf by leaf: as lush as a real one, but they never dry out. Sizes from 52 to 61 cm, engraving and shipping included, and custom sizes available on request. Discover the wreaths.
